Don't forget that the photo can be dangerous. Try to edit some of the things that look weird. Like the shape of the head. It looks like there is too much hair showing. Also, try to simplify and round shapes out, don't go exactly by how you see it. If you do, it will remain as stiff as a photograph. I like the colors in the face, that helps alot. Try imagine if you were starring at the subject in real life, try to show that movement. If you follow the photograph too closely you will give yourself away. One of the differences in painting from life is that it is much easier to choose areas where you can keep more detail and take detail out of others. In the photo, its flat and all the detail is there,it hipnotizes you.
