The Dropout Workbook

As some of you know, I picked up a freelance gig drawing for educational workbooks. While these drawings are stylistically far removed from my usual, it has been a breath of fresh air creating the works. It has been fun enough that I created the following for my amusement and that of the other freelancers on the project. These would probably belong in the "Dropout" workbook.

Careful what you ask for!

She didn't get stuck, but she would have deserved it!

Remembering Aviva Stone

Aviva Stone (1948-2007) was a popular figure model in NYC and she is being remembered by Spring Studio with a group exhibition of paintings and drawings of her by the artists she has worked with. My drawing above, done just a few months before her passing, will be included in the show. There will also be a memorial for Aviva on the 28th.

Also, the process video of my first one is here.

Thanks to AXH Animation for putting this together.

APW Vinyl Records Show

Here is my piece for the vinyl show. Gonna have a process video of it on Doodles and Chimps in a few days after my friend edits the files. I might do another record still to keep this one company.

And here is the show info yo!

Spring 9.22.08, CTL Interview

Life drawing is still good for you even if you use it to procrastinate other work.

A. True

B. False

*edit:

Just heard from Custom Toy Lab's Raphael that my interview with him is now up. =D

Read it here.

SLB Sketches

Here is a sketch for a project long procrastinated. I'm  waiting on approval on these and revisions are likely. However, I am very excited about this project and will have more to share once it gets going.

Back to Spring

I finally had a chance to go back to Spring Studio to draw from life. Hopefully I will be able to go regularly again. The model had a spine condition that made her body arc in a strange way. When sitting she had to hold on to her leg otherwise her torso naturally falls back, and she was only able to lean on one hip. Oh and she does have hands... I just didn't get to them.

APW pics and sketchbook stuff

APW put up pics from the Munny show on their Flick here. I am inspired and now want to create an army of Munnies in their undaroos.

And here is some sketchbook stuff. I am working on a finished variation of the baby and mama idea for a show in July.

Yes it's ANOTHER monkey!

Almost Naked Munny for APW Arts

My first Munny! I guess he's angry cuz he can't find his pants. Done for the APW Arts Gallery Munny show and contest, June 7th-21st. Opening reception on June 7th from 7pm-9pm.

I will post better pics when he is dry enough to touch.

*edit: And then there were two. The mini munny looks meaner than I thought it would.

Another rooster, another pic

I finally got more pics of the Art Apart opening but they were all blurry. I compensate with a pic of my sketchbook cover next to materials that weren't used in its making. Ah the rooster... I need one in my apartment to wake me up in the morning - I've built up a high tolerance to my current alarm clock.

Part Art Show site updated

The P/Art website now includes artist info and images of the works. It is still under construction so only a few artist can be seen. The rest should be up by the end of the week.

Thanks to James for a great job on the site!

I will post photos of the opening reception soon.

P/Art Show Monkeys

Here are my records finally done! They are "Slide 01" and "Slide 02", with the titles referencing Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club. At this point it is very safe to say that the monkey is my power animal (though they don't slide the way penguins do). Show info is below.
